A Quilt, a Foam Monster, and a Tea Party

To backtrack a bit, Gwyn took a sewing class at SCCK this past semester in which the students learned to make a rag quilt.  She is becoming quite the little seamstress!  I would post a picture of the finished product, but it didn't get finished.  She missed the last day of co-op and so did not have that presentation pressure to finish it.  I really hope that she does not inherit the "unfinished craft project" gene from me.  Now we will have to both sit down at the table after Christmas break and finish our sewing projects together (which was the plan all along - to do them together)  Thankfully I have two good sewing machines.

Gwyn also took a fencing class.  This is just the bee's knees to me.  I'm not sure if she liked it enough to take it again, but she did have a friend in there and they did well, so who knows?

Our friend from Illinois sent us a Flat Friend to take pictures of around Maryland and send back to her, so she went to co-op with us one day.
Lyla's ever-entertaining science class got to make a "foam monster."  It is a concoction made with dry ice that pushes foam out of the top of the container, which all the kids want either in their hands or on their heads or both.  I don't know what this has to do with Exploring the Universe, but it was fun.

Celee did really well at HapKido.  I hate that she missed the last day where everyone got to break boards, but I think she'll want to take this class again in the Spring so she'll get a chance then.  Like I said before, boys, watch out!

Celee also had a tea party with her Girl Scout troop to complete some badge requirements.  They dressed up, practiced setting the table, practiced good manners.  It was very cute and fun.

They also wrote thank-you notes and one of the girls showed Celee how to make an origami frog.

Make new friends, but keep the old...
I'm so happy that we are feeling like part of the community where we live.  We've all made some good friends and are enjoying being a part of things.  We love our old friends and always look forward to seeing them again.  And it's good to make new friends too!
