The First Leg of a Long Trip

The girls and I took off Monday morning on our Wild West Adventure.  We headed for Champaign, IL to stay with friends and catch up on some things we miss from there.  We stayed with our dear friends Jen and Dan.  And Lyla got to catch up with her bestie, Jake.  It's so cool that all our kids just pick up where they left off.
We had the day scheduled out pretty hard.  We had a lot to pack into our one day!  We managed to visit friends, eat at restaurants we love, go to the IDEA store and Meijers, and see the changes to our old house.  And of course, we had to get some Jarlings Custard.  It's always a favorite!
We also got to have dinner with Robin, Will, Jon, and Sarah at Courier Cafe.  Courier is always good, no matter what you order, and they have an awesome salad bar that you pay by the pound.  It also sits near an alley that UI students have turned in to a kind of art walk.  It's all so random and cool.  It was neat to see what things we could find hidden in all the pictures.

Somehow I made it out of Champaign without pictures of our other friends we got to see.  It was kind of a whirlwind day!  Gwyn got to hang out with Sophie.  We hung out with the Aardsma's for a while.  And we ate lunch with Jen Gartside, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and the Lewis's.  It was so nice to just hang out and catch up, even if it was for a short time.  The many good friends we all made in Champaign is the thing I miss most.
