The quest here was a bit lame. This park is a barrier island with marshlands, beach and wild horses, but the quest was to make found art in the sand. That's it. Just found art. So the girls did and they got their stamp for it.
Seagulls are such funny birds to me. They congregated at a blanket someone else had laid out near us because there was a grocery bag with bags of chips in it. Bags do not deter seagulls. They ripped open the chip bags and had a chip feast.
Celee tried to shoo them, but it was pointless, so we settled for watching them float in the wind after they tired of their chip thievery.
Then the girls decided to bury each other. They spent quite a while taking turns being buried and turned into mermaids or octopuses. Meanwhile I got to lay in the sun, which was great for me. I needed a little Vitamin D boost!
When we were thoroughly sandblasted, we left to eat lunch. Since we didn't spend the whole day at the beach like we had planned, we decided to stop and do another ParkQuest on the way home. To we took a detour to Tuckahoe State Park to do another canoe quest. This one was filling in words on a crossword puzzle based on information posted on signs along a water trail. The info was all about plants and animals that live along the stream. This park was really pretty and peaceful. We saw lots of turtles too!
I think we are all pretty confident canoers after this weekend. I would love to have our own canoe (or canoes) to take out! And we completed 13 out of 24 ParkQuests. So it was a fun little vacation filled with lots of outdoor fun that we usually wouldn't have done. So ParkQuest did get us to places doing things we probably wouldn't have known about or gone to without it. And now we know some really nice parks on the Eastern Shore that we will probably visit again. But I still want to go to Chincoteague or Ocean City!
