Lyla's Girl Scout Troop has been learning all about conserving and protecting our water sources, which is very important as we live in the Chesapeake Watershed area. Our run-off and streams feed directly into the bay so the girls have been getting acquainted with all the ways that we can have an impact (good and bad) on that water. They've also been learning about ways to conserve energy. So at our meeting the troop got to find songs that we can sing in the shower to know how long our showers really are. Did you know you'd have to sing "Make New Friends" 9 times to measure a 3 minute shower? I think my showers are usually longer than 3 minutes....
The girls also made their own super cleaner out of vinegar. Now they can clean all kinds of things and know that they aren't adding chemicals to their run-off down the drain! The bonus is when they clean the counters, they know they aren't transferring chemicals to their food that may touch the counters too.
