Gwyn and Celee got to go on a tour of the New Arts Foundry in Baltimore this past week with Eternal Blessings. This foundry creates bronze sculptures. The kids got to see the process starting with making molds of an artist's work in wax, rubber, then plaster. This process was many steps long and took a long time. Then the bronze was finally poured, then had to be welded, fired, and cured for many more steps until the bronze was the finish the artist wanted.
Gwyn and Celee thought watching the artisans color the statue was the coolest things. One guy was finishing a statue of a fox while the kids were there. They rubbed the statue with chemicals and fired it with a torch to make it have a different finish.
