Schoolin' is awesome!

Our Tinkering class had a fun project.  The kids got to make scribble-bots.  They were given a little motor, a glue stick to offset the weight, markers, tape and some plastic containers.  Tinkering is so much fun, but hard as an observer because we are not allowed to touch or give specific instructions.  We can ask questions or give suggestions, but the kids are on their own to figure out how to make the contraption work.  They did pretty good!  They worked in pairs and it took a while for them to get their first bots to work right, but then everyone figured it out and they made new ones differently each time.  It is so cool to see them questioning and reasoning and building!

Celee is having fun in her drawing class.  They did some basic shape drawing and shading.  Now they moved on to drawing animals from pictures.  Celee chose a fluffy sad-looking cat, and she's doing a really good job making it look nice!
Celee and Lyla are also enjoying their Spanish class.  I don't know how much they are retaining although I do have them do vocabulary at home.  But they have fun in the class and I guess any exposure just makes it easier to learn in the future too.
Lyla's science class is a little crazy.  It's called "Exploring the Universe."  I think it's all an excuse for the teacher to make things explode and make slime and things like that.  And of course Lyla is having fun.  She's the only girl in a class with 8 little boys, but she's holding her own.  :)
Celee and Lyla are also taking HapKido.  They are learning defensive martial arts.  It's pretty cool.  Now whenever the rooster runs at them at home I can just say for them to HapKido kick him.

Gwyn is taking a kitchen chemistry class.  She looks super into it no?  And I guess she's getting to the age where she doesn't want me to take her picture anymore.  Oh, well.  It will get taken even if I have to sneak shots through the windows!
